I slept on a rainbow!

Last week Nora came home and excitedly told us she had slept on a rainbow. We, being her ever trusting parents thought

a) maybe they had a prism at daycare that shone rainbows onto a spot in the room and she got to sleep on that very spot (Mom's best guess)

OR

b) she was making stuff up (Dad's bet)

Then today I went to pick her up and again she was telling me about this rainbow crock of whatever and it all came together. It was explained (by a trustworthy adult) that there were some new sheets on the cots and LAST week Nora was thrilled to sleep on a sheet with a RAINBOW on it. Today, however, the rainbow sheet was not on her cot and she was pretty upset about it. Mind you, she didn't even stay for naptime today.

On the ride home I tried to explain that she needed to take turns with her friends because there are only two rainbow sheets and about 17 other kids who probably really want to sleep on a rainbow too. "I got to take turns" is what was repeated from the back seat.

I don't know if most two year olds even know what a rainbow is, but Nora got a 20 minute lesson on them from Sesame Street a couple weeks ago. She rarely gets to watch TV and wow does it make a big impression on her when she does get to watch.

So there you have it. She DID get to sleep on a rainbow.

As a side note, here is what we usually see on Mondays and Fridays when Nora wakes up from nap. She's in her coat because she always falls asleep on the way home in the car at noon. We've mastered the art of transferring her from the carseat to the crib without waking her up (and now with the added feat of not letting the kitten outside.) The coat keeps her toasty as the house warms back up and after nap, Cheeto comes in to say hello!

  1. That's my girl! I can't wait until we can watch Sesamstraße together as a family in die Schweiz.
